Nasal Corrections

Nose corrections are done at various ages by different techniques considering the growth potential of the nose. From earlier approach of not operating on nose at all till the child grows to the age of 15 years to present more aggressive techniques, nasal corrections have seen a major change over recent years. Presently nasal repair at the time of lip repair has become a standard practice. Frequently this repair is followed by use of nasal conformers which are silicone rubber made structures meant to be inserted into the nose. Pressure of nasal conformers helps shape up the nose. At the age of 5 years and beyond if required further improvements can be done. Most patients who were operated 15 years back when nasal repairs were not a common practise and those who did not get adequate results after initial nasal corrections are operated at the age of 15 years. This surgery is called Rhinoplasty.
